Director George Miller originally wrote the Furiosa screenplay as a detailed backstory for Charlize Theron during the production of Fury Road to help her understand the character's motivations. Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays the younger Furiosa, famously has only about 30 lines of dialogue in the entire two-and-a-half-hour film, a deliberate choice by Miller to emphasize visual storytelling over exposition.
